Abstract:

The purpose of the current study is to measure the role of the senior management team (the College Council) in avoiding the pitfalls of strategic planning represented by (the pitfalls of commitment, the pitfalls of change, and the pitfalls of policy) in achieving the effectiveness of strategic decisions represented by (decision suitability, decision acceptance, decision quality) in Universities and private colleges in the Middle Euphrates (Karbala, Najaf, Babil, Diwaniyah, Muthanna), as the study seeks to address the problem that lies in bridging the gap towards avoiding the pitfalls of strategic planning in order to ensure the effectiveness of strategic decisions, and accordingly the study sample represented the members of the Colleges Council in The governorates of the Middle Euphrates with a number of (146) members, in addition to the use of a set of statistical methods in the analysis and characterization of the data collected through a questionnaire form specially prepared for this purpose. And the normal distribution test, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, Pearson correlation coefficient, and coefficient of determination), the results of the study showed a statistically significant correlation between avoiding the pitfalls of strategic planning. and effectiveness of strategic decisions.
