Abstract:

The current research aims to identify the most important challenges facing leading women working in higher education institutions in Iraq.

To achieve the goal of the research, the two researchers prepared a questionnaire for this purpose, based on the most important literature, previous studies, and available standards in this field. The questionnaire consisted of (36) items divided into three areas:

-Social challenges (10) paragraphs

– Political challenges (10) paragraphs

Personal challenges (16) paragraphs

After applying the questionnaire to the members of the research sample of (150) leading women working in institutions of higher education and analyzing the data statistically, it was found that the social challenges ranked first in the impact, with an arithmetic mean (3.05) and a relative weight of (76.33), noting that the degree of challenge is very large and this It goes back to the nature of social upbringing and society’s low view of women’s work, who still lives within the old social and cultural legacies despite scientific and cultural developments throughout the ages. Then came the political challenges, which ranked second in the degree of influence with an average.

Arithmetic (3.15) and relative weight (78.85) due to the weak participation of women in political decision-making and the weak support of the authority for women’s work. Finally, “personal challenges, which ranked third in influence, with an arithmetic mean (2.20) and a relative weight (55.8), are due to the nature of the Iraqi woman’s personality and the extent of her confidence in her abilities and capabilities to assume senior leadership positions. In light of these results, the two researchers came up with a set of recommendations.
