“Guilt Feeling and Its Relationship to Life Orientation among Teachers at Al-Azhar University in Gaza”

Abstract:

This study aims at investigating the relationship between guilt feeling and life orientation among teachers at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, and finding out if there are statistically significant differences at the level of guilt feeling and life orientation of the study sample attributed to the variables of: (age, scientific specialization, years of work). In this study, the researcher used the descriptive method. The study sample consisted of (92) male teachers at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, who were randomly selected. The two study tools included the guilt feeling Scale (prepared by the researcher), and the measure of life orientation prepared by (Scherier & Carver, 1985), and translated by (Ansari, 1998). The results showed that there was an inverse relationship between guilt feeling and life orientation of the sample members’ responses, and there were no statistically significant differences at the level of life orientation among the sample members attributed to the variable of age, and there were statistically significant differences at the level of life orientation among the study sample attributed to the variables of specialization and years of work. The results also showed statistically significant differences at the level of guilt feeling among the sample members attributed to the variables of age and years of work, and there were no statistically significant differences at the level of guilt feeling attributed to the variable of specialization. In light of these results the researcher presented a set of recommendations.
