The Effect Of Integration Between Means Enrichment Strategies And Mental Maps In Solving Mathematical Problems  And Habits of Mind For Second Grade Students In Mathematics

Abstract:

The study was conducted in Iraq, and the study aimed to identify the effect of integration between mental mapping strategies and means of enrichment in solving mathematical problems and habits of mind among second-grade intermediate students in mathematics. The research sample consisted of (67) intermediate second grade students, where the experimental group represented (35) female students, while the control group represented (32) female students. The two study groups subjected parity in a number of variables, general achievement and mathematics, chronological age, intelligence. All the necessary requirements for research were prepared, including goals, study plans and a test for solving mathematical problems and the scale of the habits of mind, the experiment was applied on (24/2/2019 to 4/4/ 2019). After that, the data were analyzed statistically. It was noticed that the integration between the means of enrichment strategies and mental maps positively affected the solution of mathematical problems and the habits of mind possessed by the second-grade students, on average, compared to the control group. Among the research proposals is the necessity of adopting integration between mental mapping strategies and media enrichment to improve students ’ability to solve mathematical problems and a change in the habits of mind they have in mathematics.
