Social intolerance among university students

Abstract:

The current research aims to identify:

1- Social intolerance among university students.

2- Significance of differences according to the gender variable (males, females).

To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher adopted a scale (Karim, 2014), which is designed to measure (social intolerance among university students).

The researcher extracted the psychometric properties of the scale by presenting it to a group of arbitrators specialized in psychological counseling and mental health to identify the apparent honesty and to ensure the validity of the paragraphs of the scale, the value of the calculated square (Ka2) was adopted as a criterion for the survival of the paragraphs or not, as the experts agreed on the validity of all the paragraphs of the scale Supplement (1).

In order to find out the stability index of the scale, the split-half method was used, and it reached (0.86) degrees.

The researcher applied the scale in its final form, which consisted of (34) items on the research sample of (60) male and female students.

The search results showed:

1- University students do not have social intolerance.

2- There are no statistically significant differences according to gender (males and females).

The researcher came out with a set of recommendations and suggestions.
